Chris, my friend designing this blog for me, is still tinkering around with it and I’m just checking in to see how it’s going. We changed the headline picture of lavender that I like better. And so right now I’m thinking of lavender.
You see, lavender is known as the aspirin of essential oils and their fields when in bloom (like now or soon) are most glorious to behold. God’s magnificent creation! (click on the bottle to enlarge).
So Lavandula augustifolia is its Latin name. It is mainly grown in Utah, Idaho and France, To capture this magnificent oil it is steam distilled from the flowering top. (There will be a link soon to steam distilled)
The French scientist Rene Gattefosse`was the first to discover lavender’s ability to promote tissue regeneration and speed wound healing when he severely burned his arm in a laboratory accident. Today, lavender is one of the few essential oils to still be listed in the British Pharmacopoeia.
Lavender has many medical properties. It is antiseptic, antifungal, analgesic, antitumoral, anticonvulsant, vasodilating, a relaxant, anti-inflammatory, reduces blood fat/cholesterol, combats excess sebum on the skin. Pretty impressive. Click here to watch a video.
Lavender has many uses. Right off the top of my head, its use in knocking out a headache and lulling one into a restful sleep are common uses. Other conditions that maybe you might not think of are respiratory infections, high blood pressure (really!), it’s big for BURNS …. keep that bottle next to the stove, or in your beach bag for sunburn. Nervous tension is high these days and lavender is just the ticket to calm you down in high traffic situations, bad hair days, cranky kids, try some

Oh, you want to buy some lavender? Send me your name and email address and I’ll get back to you soon. This site will eventually be set up so you can buy it directly from the company, bypassing me. got some work to do here.
See you next time. Many blessings ….
P.S.
I have one caveat and you will read that often here. When I speak of essential oils, I am speaking of therapeutic grade essential oils made by Young Living Essential Oils, an organic company in Utah, whose standards are so high the oils may be trusted and safely ingested. Yes! Because these oils are not adulterated by any industrial chemicals or other products just to keep the price down, or to get something scarce out the door. No! There will be more on this later.
